Janelle Monae - “Wondaland” Janelle Monae is my favorite cyborg r&b singer. Kinda like a female combination of James Brown and “Gigolo Joe” from the film “AI.” What’s not to like??
“My Radio” by Solvent. AKA Jason Amm, Toronto’s Solvent has been one of my favorite artists for a while now. Most recently, I saw him play one of his first “laptop free” shows at Branx here in Portland. There’s a video for this song here, complete with lyrics. upload: jockojonson17
“REVOLUTION OF THE HEART” by Howard Jones
Remember Howard Jones? No? He was a fairly famous performer back in the 80s. This is from his 2005 album of the same name. I love how he layers vocals and a classical piano over a thumping, driving club beat. I also love that he’s still making records- especially now with the whole “retro 80s” thing going on.
Bruce Haack - “Deck the Halls”
I’m not a fan of xmas music by any means, but this fun song is an exception. Bruce Haack was an electronic music pioneer. He made some trippy music, and he was friends with Raymond Scott and he also appeared on the Mr. Rogers show in 1968. props to dzarmstrong1 for the video
